Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya, founded nearly two decades ago with support from renowned figures in Jamalpur, stands as a testament to the collective vision of the community. Situated on the banks of the river Damodar, the college aims to provide higher education to students from Jamalpur, surrounding regions, and distant areas of Purba Bardhaman and neighboring districts, symbolizing a commitment to educational advancement and community development.

Welcome to Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya
Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya represents a long-cherished aspiration for the residents of Jamalpur and neighboring blocks, including Memari, Raina, and Dhaniakhali. These rural communities, historically limited in access to higher education, rallied over 500 individuals at a convention held at Jamalpur High School to initiate the establishment of the college. The Jamalpur Thana Gram Unnayan Society, a registered social work organization, spearheaded the organizational efforts, leading to the inception of the college. Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya was recognized by the West Bengal government starting from the 2009-2010 academic session and officially affiliated with The University of Burdwan on March 5, 2010.
Strategically situated on the Burdwan-Jamalpur and Burdwan-Tarakeswar roads, the college’s establishment and development were facilitated by supportive well-wishers who contributed land and resources. Under the capable guidance of its administrative body, the college continues to make strides toward academic excellence, meeting the educational needs of the local community.
In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya offers both 3-year and 4-year BA courses in Bengali, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sanskrit. Currently, the institution employs 9 full-time teachers, 14 SACT teachers, and 10 non-teaching staff members, serving 660 students in the 2023-24 academic session.
The college provides a robust academic environment, featuring a digitized library using the Koha Integrated Library System, smart classrooms equipped with ICT facilities, spacious and ventilated classrooms, a large playground, and an eco-friendly campus. Collaborative efforts include MoUs with several degree and technical colleges, fostering faculty and student exchanges, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, excursions, health camps, annual sports events, and various co-curricular activities. The NSS unit is actively engaged in community service through outreach programs. Academic achievements at Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya are notable, with students securing university rankings and benefiting from scholarships like "Kanyashree," "Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship," "Aikyashree," and "Oasis." Students can also utilize the "Student Credit Card" facility ... Read More >>
